The tourist information centre for the town of Hallstatt is designed in a classic style, featuring a pitched gable roof that seamlessly integrates with the historical buildings in the area. Its strategic location allows it to serve as a gateway to Hallstatt, welcoming visitors arriving by bus, car, or boat. The building serves three purposes: housing a bank, public toilets, and the tourist information centre. Each of these functions has a separate entrance on one side of the building. Architecturally, the design highlights these functions through a cut in the façade, with the cut surfaces covered in wood or glazed materials. Additionally, an external staircase is planned on the seaward side of the building, leading to a viewing terrace.
Additionally, the flat in the attic can be accessed through the tourist information office located on the first floor of the building. The pitched gable roof allows for the future installation of the flat. The entire structure is constructed using solid timber, skillfully integrating it with the surrounding environment. The lakeside façade is covered in wooden shingles, in line with the historical context of the area, while the other façades are plastered in white. The building's design, with its compactness, orientation of glass surfaces, and sufficient insulation, meets low-energy standards. Furthermore, the inclusion of a ventilation system enables the building to even meet passive-house standards.
